Keeping God’s Word in Our Minds All School Year

It’s that time of year…To get ready for a great school year!! We get new school supplies. (Anyone else love the smell of school supplies? No, just me?) We get new clothes. We visit the school and walk the halls. We meet the teachers and see the friends we’ve missed over the summer. We get all the stuff and do all the things.

But have we stopped to get our relationship with God ready for this school year. Just like we get things ready for school, get the backpacks set out and the lunches made, we need to get our minds ready each day.

What better way to prepare our minds for school than with Scripture. Memorizing a verse each week can keep our minds on things above. When stressful situations arise, we already have the truth in our heads to counteract the lies that satan will tell us. When celebrations happen, we have in mind the words to praise God for all that He has done. Having Scripture in our thoughts keeps us anchored as we go throughout our school days.

One of our goals this school year is for our whole family to memorize a verse together each week. We will all be working on the same verse so that we can talk about it and encourage one another each day with God’s Word.

Ways to Encourage Scripture Memorization

  1. Write the verse each day. Use it to practice handwriting or fancy lettering.
  2. Say the verse together each morning on the way to school.
  3. Talk about the verse at breakfast or dinner.
  4. Post the verse in places around the house. Keep a copy, at the bathroom sink, by the stove, by the kitchen sink, or on the fridge.
  5. Write it on the bathroom mirror using dry erase markers. Don’t worry! It comes right off.
  6. Print or make verse cards for the kids to hang in their lockers. The kids could even decorate their own cards.
  7. Take the verses to work and tape them to your computer.
  8. Put a verse in their lunch box with a note about how you are praying for them.
  9. Tape the verse to the back of the seat in front of them in car.
  10. Share the verse on social media to encourage others in Scripture.

Constantly putting God’s Word in our minds has lasting affects each day and for years to come.

What Do We Memorize?

Don’t know where to start? Check out these 40 Verses, one for each week of the school year.

These verses are for different situations. Sometimes we need encouragement. Sometimes we guidance, and other times we need to be able to defend our faith. The Bible verses on these cards help with all of those situations and more. Extra blank cards are also provided if you want to memorize verses that are specifically for your family.

(Also check out these already perforated cards. I found them at Walmart! Print the Scripture Cards right on these flash cards. Pen + Gear White Index & Flash Cards)

An added important part is that if you are an elderly person, travel insurance with regard to pensioners is something you need to really contemplate. The old you are, a lot more at risk you happen to be for allowing something negative happen to you while in most foreign countries. If you are not really covered by a few comprehensive insurance plan, you could have quite a few serious challenges. Thanks for revealing your hints on this web site.
